MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Minot State men's and women's cross-country teams continued their 2026 seasons Friday at the Roy Griak Invitational, with every Beaver who competed recording a personal best in their collegiate careers.
"I was very pleased with both groups today," Minot State head coach
Erik Stevens said. "Every single person that stepped on the line had a personal best in their college careers. Some by over 40 seconds. They executed the plan to near perfection which gives me great insight on how they are adapting to the season so far. I only have confidence going forward that we can continue to improve, execute, and close those gaps down to have better more solid team performances."
On the women's side,
Bailey Wride led the Beavers in the 6,000-meter race, finishing 72nd overall in 21:44.3.
Hannah Senechal followed in 161st at 23:26.9, while
Brooklyn Kitchens placed 163rd in 23:27.1.
Julie Folk finished 166th in 23:29.7, followed by
Addyson Wendt in 186th at 24:25.1.
Minot State finished 13th out of 17 teams with a score of 407. Minnesota won the women's team standings with 26 points.
On the men's side, senior
Holter Bridwell led the Beavers in the 8,000-meter race, finishing 112th overall in 26:13.1.
Jake Jenkins followed closely in 114th at 26:18.2, while
Carter Heggem placed 134th in 26:39.7.
Nolan Berglof finished 173rd in 28:19.0, followed by
Caden Peterson in 175th at 28:24.7.
Auston Lemer placed 190th in 29:18.1, while
Cameron Hummel finished 197th at 30:04.4.
Aijay Gourneau rounded out the Beavers in 201st at 31:43.4.
Minot State finished 13th out of 18 teams with a score of 425. Iowa State won the men's team standings with 24 points.
Stevens also highlighted the leadership from the team's upperclassmen, noting the role they have played in preparing the group for competition. "I am very pleased with our senior leadership and how they are pulling the group along and getting everybody well-prepared for competition," Stevens said.
With the Roy Griak Invitational in the books, the Beavers will continue working toward stronger team performances as the 2026 season moves forward.
