Patrick Arntson

Patrick Arntson returns to the Minot State University coaching staff after not coaching in 2019. He was an assistant coach for the Beavers from 2014-2018.

Arntson assists in all aspects of the Beaver baseball program, with a primary focus on coaching hitting.

He helped guide the Beavers to a season in 2017, which was a record-setting year at the time as MSU tied a school record with 29 wins, qualifying for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament for the first time in school history. The Beavers ranked in the top 5 in multiple offensive categories in 2017, including second in on-base percentage and third in slugging. MSU was fourth in the league in batting with a .302 average.

During the 2017 season, he helps coach Jordan Schulz to the NCBWA All-Central Region team as Schulz hit .381 overall. He also worked with Michael Borst, who set the school record with 59 runs batted in. Both Schulz and Borst were named All-NSIC in 2017.

Under Arntson's guidance in 2016, MSU batted .287 as a team, and freshman Celestino Rodriguez set the school's single-season home run record with 15. As a team, the Beavers stroked 60 home runs to finish fourth in the NSIC.

In 2015 the Beavers had the best power numbers since years past, blasting 54 home runs and ranking 21st in the nation for home runs per game (1.20 PG). During his first three seasons on staff, the Beavers have hit .292 .295 .283 as a team, all three coming towards the top of the conference for team batting average.

Arntson came to Minot with experience from playing baseball in the tough Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. He played two years at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. As a Peacock, Arntson played first base and hit .305 with two home runs and 26 runs batted in during his senior season.

Before arriving at Upper Iowa, Arntson played two seasons at Muskegon Community College in Muskegon, Mich. As a sophomore, he was named to the All-Conference team as well as First Team All-Region and Third Team All-American.

Arntson received a Bachelors Degree in Exercise & Sports Science from Upper Iowa in 2012 and a Masters in Business from Minot State University in 2015.

He and his wife Jaci reside in Minot.
