Celestino "Sal" Rodriguez enters his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Minot State baseball team after playing for the Beavers from 2016-2019.
In 2018, he was selected Honorable Mention All-Central Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and named First Team All-NSIC. Rodriguez hit .313 on the season with 11 doubles, one triple, and nine home runs and drove in a team-leading 47 runs. He posted a slugging percentage of .540 and had an on-base percentage of .367. Ranked second on the team with 16 multiple-hit games and 12 multiple-RBI games.
During the 2016 season, he broke the then single-season home run record by launching 15 homers (Schulz, 14 - 2015) which ranked fourth in the NSIC. Rodriguez was ranked 10th in the NSIC in RBI (50) and 16th in the conference in slugging percentage (.656). He was second on the team in hits (45), total bases (100), and third in doubles (10) with a .294 batting average.
Rodriguez has also served as an Admissions Counselor at Minot State University since August of 2019. He is the varsity head softball coach at Bishop Ryan Catholic School and a baseball instructor for Heilman's Performance while serving as a public address announcer for women's ice hockey and select men's and women's basketball games for MSU.
Sal graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Management, and International Business from Minot State University and will complete his Master of Science in Sports Management in May of 2021.
