Coach Merillana joined the Minot State coaching staff in the summer of 2023 after a four-year career with the Beavers that saw him earned All-NSIC honors in cross country in 2022. Merillana also is Top 3 in Minot State's NCAA D-II era in the indoor 800, mile, and 5,000 meters, and outdoors in the 1,500 and 5,000. He also competed for two years in both cross country and track and field at Hartnell College in California.
