Coach Charley Gomez joined the Minot State women’s soccer staff in the summer of 2024.
Prior to Minot State, Charley spent five seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer program at Fullerton College in California, helping guide the team to a record of 55 wins, 17 ties, and 21 losses. During his tenure, Fullerton secured three conference championships (2019, 2023, and 2024). He played a vital role in the development of high-level student-athletes, including All-Americans Misael Gonzalez (UCI), Angel Sevillano (USF & CSULA), and Scholar All-American Sergio Ibarra.
Charley recruited over 60 prospective student-athletes during his time at Fullerton and helped maintain a team-wide GPA above 3.0. He also oversaw the planning and execution of the program’s spring and summer camps. Beyond his coaching duties, he served as the advisor for the Hornet Soccer Club, which he helped establish and recruit for—growing it to a roster of approximately 40 students annually. He also contributed to the women’s soccer program at Fullerton for one season.
Charley began his collegiate coaching career in 2015 with the women’s soccer team at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) in California. Over four seasons, the program compiled a record of 32-38-10. Before departing, he had recruited 12 of the 24 players on the roster, including All-American Frida Monsalvo.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Charley has worked with a range of youth and high school programs, including Danny Califf’s Professional Soccer Resource, Touch N Go, Kids In Sports, and high schools such as Mountain View, Bassett, La Puente, Diamond Ranch, and El Modena. He currently coaches U16–U19 boys for Magic City Legends.
Charley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Pedagogy and a Master’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. He also holds a USSF “C” License.
