Dawn Mattern is the region’s only physician specializing in Family Medicine/Sports Medicine, being Board Certified in both specialties.

A North Dakota native, she graduated from North Dakota State University, Fargo, where she was a four-year letter winner in track and basketball and twice a member of the National Championship Basketball Team. She received her medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks. She completed her residency at UND’s northwest campus - the Minot Center for Family Medicine - where she received the Resident of the Year Faculty Award.

Dr. Mattern completed her Sports Medicine fellowship at Ohio State University and was a team physician at the Ohio State University Sports Medicine Center. Currently, she serves as Team Physician for Minot State University. An avid supporter of the Exercise is Medicine™ program, Dr. Mattern participates in many community events promoting the benefits of physical activity.
