Coach Zarr joined the Minot State volleyball program in the summer of 2025 as an assistant volleyball coach.
After graduating college, Coach Zarr continued with volleyball in many facets including playing, coaching, helping run various tournaments, officiating North Dakota high school volleyball, running camps, and doing individual lessons.
Coach Zarr helped start the Empire Volleyball Club in Minot in 2022 where she was co-head of coaches, assistant 18-1 coach, as well as club secretary. She helped develop and grow Minot area volleyball into a competitive travel organization where our top teams went to Nationals to compete in Florida. The Empire Volleyball Club has produced several athletes who have gone to Junior College, NAIA, NCAA D-II, and NCAA D-I schools.Â
Coach Zarr (Getchell) attended North Dakota State where she played 4 seasons as an outside hitter from 1996-2000 for the Bison, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament all 4 years and the Elite Eight her junior and senior years, and were the national runners-up in 1998. Coach Zarr received multiple awards and accolades while at NDSU, including being in the Top 10 in the conference in kills, kills/set, digs, digs/set, as well as All-Tournament Team, All-Conference, Academic All-Conference, Player of the Week, and the North Central Conference's Player of the Year in 1999.
A native of Dayton, Minnesota, Coach Zarr attended Champlin Park High School from 1992-96 and played softball and volleyball. She earned All-Conference honors, was a team captain, and the Athena Award Winner. She also played travel ball for Northern Lights Volleyball for 3 years.
Coach Zarr is married to Steve and they have 5 kids: Jack, Owen, Jaeger, Zoe and Autumn. The Zarrs have lived in Minot since 2006.Â
