Coach Josh Wastvedt was named the head coach for the Minot State volleyball program in January of 2026.

Coach Wastvedt joins the Beaver athletic department after spending the past 7 seasons as the head girls and boys coach at Burnsville High School in Minnesota, and as head coach for the Mizuno Northern Lights Volleyball club. During his time at Burnsville, he was named Section 6AAAA Coach of the Year in 2021, 2022, and 2024 and guided Burnsville to the state tournament in 2022, the program's first state berth since 2009. He also guided the Mizuno Northern Lights club team to a 5th-place finish at the 2025 AAU National Volleyball Tournament.

Prior to his time at Burnsville, Coach Wastvedt was head coach for Garrison-Max High School from 2017-19 where he was a Class B State Coach of the Year Finalist, was head coach at Williston High School from 2012-15, and head coach at Central Valley School from 2009-11, where he was an AVCA National High School Coach of the Year nominee.

Coach Wastvedt also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Bismarck State (2015-16), and a 2012 graduate of Mayville State, he started his coaching career as a student assistant with the Comets.

Coach Wastvedt earns his bachelor's degree in Physical Education & Elementary Education from Mayville State, and currently is finishing his master's in Physical Education: Coaching og Sport at Southwest Minnesota State.
