DICKINSON, N.D. – Minot State University senior wide receiver
Johnny Lester (Miami, Fla.) was named the 2010 Dakota Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player following a stellar senior campaign.
Lester was named to the All DAC first team at his wide receiver position along with sophomore offensive lineman
Mitch Haugeberg (Minot, N.D.) and senior linebacker
Tommy Weidler (Velva, N.D.).
Lester was also named the conference's first team selection for kick returner and punt returner. He finished the season as the nation's No. 2 ranked kickoff returner averaging 31.5 yards per return. Lester was No. 8 in all purpose yards (1,479) and No. 8 in total punt returns (215). He caught 50 passes for 723 yards and six scores.
Haugeberg and Weidler were each named to the first team for the first time their careers. Haugeberg helped the Beavers to an average of 305 yards per game and 1,284 yards rushing. Weidler ended his stellar career with the Beavers with 49 tackles, sixth on the team, and 3.5 sacks.
MSU also had three second team honorees as
Tyson Schatz (Jr., RB, Minot, N.D.) was named second team All-DAC and
Zach Robinson (Jr., DL, Redmond, Wash.) and
Eric Henke (Jr., DB, Velva, N.D.) were selected on the second team defense.
