Saints down Beavers

No. 25 Carroll College shuts out Minot State

HELENA, Mont. – Minot State University ran into some tough luck as they surrendered two goals in the final moments of each half to fall 2-0 to No. 25 Carroll College in NAIA Women's Soccer here Sunday.
The Saints (6-2-1 overall) are the top ranked team in the region, while MSU (5-3-2) entered this weekend's play ranked fourth.
Carroll's Kelly Benson scored on a penalty kick with just 12 seconds to play in the first half to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. With the Beavers pushing forward in the second half, CC struck again in the final minute of the match to take the 2-0 win.
MSU controlled the first half action outshooting Carroll 10-1, but could not get a goal. Carroll bounced back in the shot department in the second half to finish with a 13-11 advantage, including an 8-5 margin in shots on goal.
MSU's Holly Chrisope (Sr., G, Chico, Calif.) gave up two goals on eight shots on goal. CC's netminder Erin Volz earned the win with five saves.
MSU's best offensive weapons were senior Jordan Kramer (Mid, Las Vegas, Nev.) and sophomore Shannon Walsh (Mid, Minot, N.D.). Kramer took four shots total and two on goal and Walsh finished with two shots on goal off the bench.
MSU is back on the pitch Wednesday as the Beavers travel to the University of Mary for a 7 p.m. start.
