MINOT, N.D. – With the New Year's celebration quickly approaching, it's time to reflect on the past 12 months in Minot State Beaver athletics and rank some of the most memorable moments and achievements of your Beaver student-athletes.
As usual, there were plenty to choose from, and before we start Buckshot's Top 10 list of Best moments of 2025, let's mention just a few of the honorable mention moments that just missed the list.
From this fall, the Minot State football team crushed the single-season rushing record and the single-season rushing attempts record as the 100
th Beaver football team ran for 3,157 yards on 617 carries, breaking the old records of 2,693 yards and 586 carries, both accomplished in 2024.
Switching to the spring and the softball diamond, the Beavers added two more honorable-mention moments as senior pitcher Jasmine Blizzard threw her first no-hitter, striking out 5 and allowing just one baserunner in an 8-0 win in 5 innings over Missouri Valley College on March 10.
Also adding a major highlight moment was freshman Sarah Misner who, on March 24 in "The Bubble," blasted a 2-run home run in the 4
th inning against Sioux Falls in an NSIC ballgame, then later in the same inning, Misner crushed a grand slam, giving her 2 homers and 6 RBIs in the same inning.
Some major highlights for the Beavers, who added many more during 2025, including an amazing debut season for women's head soccer coach
Chris Logan whose team started the season with a few weeks of growing pains, then took off as the Beavers lost once in their final 13 regular-season games.
That performance led to Buckshot's Best of 2025 moment No. 10: The Beaver women's soccer team finishing 4th in the NSIC and hosting a home NSIC Tournament quarterfinal playoff game.
A youthful team still learning under their new head coach in Logan, who brought 9 years of NCAA Division I experience with him, began gaining momentum on the pitch with a 2-2 tie against one of the NSIC's preseason favorites in St. Cloud State in their fourth game of the season.
The Beavers then took off with an unbeatable two-weekend road trip, scoring a 1-0 win at Concordia-St. Paul, a 4-1 victory over host Winona State, and a 3-1 win at Minnesota Duluth, before wrapping up with a 1-1 tie at Bemidji State.
A 2-1 setback against Augustana briefly stalled the Beavers' unbeaten streak, but Minot State won 6 of its final 8 games, with two additional draws, climbing to clinch 4
th place in the NSIC regular season standings and earn a first-round home playoff game.
During the run into the top 4, Minot State scored 36 goals, tying for 5
th-most in team history, and was led by All-Conference forwards
Anna Miotto and
Sabrina Amezcua, and defender
Sierra Haren. Miotto also earned D2CCA All-Central Region honors.
Miotto and Amezcua each tied for the team lead with 9 goals each and 6 assists apiece during the season.
Sophomore Beaver keeper
Rebecca Sargent added 9 wins and 4 shutouts in goal for Minot State during their run to the postseason, which ended with a first-round tie against visiting Concordia-St. Paul. The Golden Bears advanced to the NSIC semifinals, though, prevailing in a penalty-kick shootout.
