Box Score
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – It was a frustrating, familiar tune for Minot State University's men's basketball team.
The Beavers struggled on offense and allowed a big first-half run en route to 76-57 loss to No. 21 University of Alaska Anchorage in the AT&T Jamboree Thursday at the Well Fargo Sports Complex.
MSU (1-7 overall) trailed just 11-10 midway through the first half, but Anchorage went on a 13-0 run to open up the first big lead in the game. The Beavers trailed 37-20 at halftime and limped to a 29.5 percent shooting clip in the first half. MSU made just seven baskets in the first stanza.
The Seawolves (2-2) were solid shooting all night and used 40.7 percent shooting to grab the early lead. UAA stretched it to as many as 26 (68-42) with just under seven minutes remaining in the second half on a 3-pointer by Steve White.
But MSU didn't roll over.
The Beavers went on an 11-0 run capped by a 3-pointer and then a layup by freshman
Easton Page (G, Carrington, N.D.) with 4:55 remaining. But that was as close as the Beavers got.
Anchorage had 10 players score in the game paced by 16 points from Taylor Rohde. Rohde also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and dished out two assists. Colton Lauwers added 15 points and Abebe Demissie scored 14 points.
Yonas Berhe (Jr., G, Toronto, Ontario) finished with 19 points to lead the Beavers. He was 7 for 9 from the floor and made all three free throw shots he took.
Josh Johnson (Jr., F, Lufkin, Texas) added nine points and nine rebounds, while
Chris East (So., G, Toronto, Ontario) pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with six points.
The Beavers continue play in Anchorage as they battle the University of Alaska Fairbanks Friday beginning at 5 p.m. (AKST).
