MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State University athletic department introduced an updated primary and secondary logo package, along with a word mark logo and a new Minot State custom typeface that will be used in athletic publications and marketing strategies.

The logo refresh is a part of the Athletic Department's overall upgrade in strategic marketing as the university begins its first year in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and full membership in NCAA Division II – expected to be announced in July.

With our programs moving into Division II and the NSIC, we need to have a consistent look among all of our sports,” said MISU Athletic Director Rick Hedberg. “We have made some significant changes in the last several months gearing up for our final move to DII and the change to our logo package is one more piece of the puzzle.  It's all part of an exciting expansion of MSU Athletics.”

Minot State Athletics primary logo, utilizing the university's Beaver mascot and its distinctive M, as well as its secondary “Beaver head” logo has both been given upgrades.

The updates to the logo and typeface will be phased in over the next couple years. All MISU Athletic Department marketing booklets, schedule posters, pocket schedules, media guides and gameday programs will feature the new typeface and logos. Other changes such as team apparel, equipment and jerseys and facilities will change as they are normally replaced.  

Minot State Athletics partnered with the Dallas-based Torch Creative for the upgrade to its logos and to change the font. Torch Creative, founded by Brad Bishop and Michael Thurman in August 2005, lists clients such as the National Hockey League, NCAA Division I Brigham Young University, McNeese University and Nebraska-Omaha, the AT&T Cotton Bowl and the NHL and NBA All-Star Games.
