Beavers swept by Winona State

Minot State pushes Warriors in set 1 and 3

Box Score

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State University volleyball team lost their eighth consecutive match in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Saturday afternoon in the MSU Dome.

Winona State University (13-2 overall, 5-0 NSIC) swept MISU (3-11 overall, 0-5 NSIC) in straight sets 25-22, 25-11, 25-21.

The Warriors used a balanced attack to extend their winning streak to 12 matches. Bekah Saugen and Laura Zeamer led WSU with 12 kills each.

“It's tough to win a match or even a set when you hit zeros or negative,” said head coach Travis Ward. “We need to cut down on our errors and play like we belong in this conference.”

Mallory Sall (Fr., OH, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) led the Beavers with eight kills and eight digs. Setter Emily Byrne (So., Reno, Nev.) had 18 assists and 8 digs in the loss.

Minot State will continue their home stand on Tuesday with a non-conference match against Valley City State University at 7 p.m.
