RECENT HISTORY: Minot State suffered another heartbreaking loss at home, this time falling to Minnesota State University-Moorhead 31-30. The Beavers led 24-14 entering the fourth quarter at Herb Parker Stadium, but the Dragon offense rattled off 17 consecutive points to take a 31-24 lead. The Beavers' answered and appeared tie things up with  a three-play, 48-yard drive that took just 1:06 to cut the lead to 31-30, but MSU-M's Steve Schutz was able to get a hand on the ensuing PAT to help the Dragons hold on for their third win of the season. The game finished with three ties and three lead changes along with 711 yards of total offense. St. Cloud State won their fourth straight game with a 45-6 thrashing of Bemidji State University. The Huskies scored the games' first 38 points before BSU got on the board early in fourth quarter with a 55-yard pass and catch. SCSU racked up 363 rushing yards, averaging 8.6 yards per carry against the sixth best rushing defense in the NSIC. The SCSU defense also did it's share in the win, sacking BSU four times and also forcing an interception.

OVERALL SERIES: Minot State and St. Cloud State have faced each other seven times on the gridiron during the two schools' history. SCSU holds the all-time advantage with a 6-0-1 record against the Beavers. The Huskies beat the Beavers 57-10 a season ago. St. Cloud State outgained MISU 638 yards to 277 yards in the game at Herb Parker Stadium.

NOTING THE HUSKIES: St. Cloud State has won four consecutive home games at Husky Stadium and in those four games they have outscored their opponents 179-45. A balanced offense and solid defensive unit has been the key to success for the Huskies, as they rank No. 8 in the NSIC in total offense (423.0 yards per game) and No. 3 in the NSIC in total defense (309.3 yards per game). Quarterback Phillip Klaphake recently broke the SCSU career passing yards record as he threw for 147 yards in the win against Bemidji State. Klaphake now has 9,788 passing yards as a Husky while also gaining over 2,233 yards on the ground during his career. He is the first SCSU quarterback to throw from 9,000 yards and rush for 2,000 yards in a career. Defensively, Eric Poggenburg leads St. Cloud State with 64 tackles on the year, including 9.5 tackles for a loss. Poggenburg recorded a career-high 12 tackles in the win at Bemidji State.

STONE COLD CAMERON: MISU's Cameron Stone (Jr., LB, Great Falls, Mont.) tied his career-high with seven tackles in the loss to MSU-Moorhead. Stone also made a career-best 3.0 tackles for a loss including his team-high fourth sack of season. Stone has made a sack in four of the eight games he has played in during the 2013 season.

297 TACKLES AND COUNTING: Senior Chad Marshall (LB, Hazen, N.D.) ranks seventh in the Northern Sun in tackles with 77 tackles (35 solo, 42 assisted) through nine games. Marshall will need just three tackles against the Huskies to go over the 300 tackle mark for his career as a Minot State University Beaver

TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE: In his first game returning kicks, Leon La Deaux (Jr., WR, Port Orchard, Wash.) provided a spark for the Beavers as he returned a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown after the Dragons took a 14-7 lead with a 92-yard touchdown pass. LaDeaux swept around to the right and blasted down the sidelines for Minot State's first special teams touchdown of the 2013 season.

NORTHERN SUN LEADING RECEIVERS: Minot State has two of the top three receiving leaders in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Wayne Peters (Sr., WR, Carson, Calif.) leads the conference in receptions with 59 through nine games, averaging 6.6 catcher per game. Leon La Deaux (Jr., WR, Port Orchard, Wash.) ranks third in the NSIC with 6.3 catches per game. Peters needs just seven catches Saturday to break the Minot State school record currently held by Hall of Fame member Harry Mills.

CUNHA'S CAREER-HIGH: With a stellar group of receivers as his resources, quarterback  Zac Cunha (So., Rocklin, Calif.) racked up a career-high 355 passing yards against MSU-Moorhead. Cunha completed 28 of 44 attempts for two touchdowns and just one interception. He found six different receivers in the loss, but his favorite targets were….you guessed it Peters and LaDeaux.

KEEPING UP WITH LOGAN JONES: Logan Jones (Sr., DL, Lethbridge, Alberta) is no stranger to having the football in his hands. Jones played running back for two seasons with the Beavers before changing positions before the 2012 season. So when he recorded his first career interception Saturday against the Dragons, it was no surprise that Jones knew exactly what to do. He returned the pick 53 yards and set up a MISU field goal.

2: Minot State has had two consecutive games where they have recorded two interceptions with 60+ yards in return yards. Against University of Minnesota Crookston, Brandon Boston (Jr., DB, Richmond, Texas) returned a game winning interception for a touchdown and then against MSU-M Logan Jones (Sr., DL, Lethbridge, Alberta) and Levi Freidt (Jr., DB, Minot, N.D.) each made interceptions to help set up scoring drives for their team.

36: Junior kicker Brian Gutierrez (Granada Hills, Calif.) hit a 36 yard field goal to give MISU a 17-14 halftime lead against Minnesota State University-Moorhead. That field goal marks his season-long with Minot State and brings him to 7-of-13 on field goals on the year.
