Last season, he coached his team to a 7-9-2 record before falling in a shootout to Central Missouri in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. Recent History: The Beavers opened their season under the lights at Herb Parker Stadium against conference rival University of Mary. Both teams had opportunities to take the match but after 110 minutes it ended in a 0-0 stalemate. The SBU Bearcats opened their season in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference territory, as they played St. Cloud State and Upper Iowa in Fayette, Iowa. The Bearcats fell 1-0 to SCSU but came back with an impressive 2-1 win over the Peacocks on their home field. University of Central Missouri went winless on their opening weekend of the 2013 season, but both losses came to nationally ranked opponents. The Jennies tied now No. 17 Winona State, 0-0 and then fell to No. 4 Minnesota State 3-0.

Noting the Bearcats: The Southwest Baptist soccer team brings back 12 seniors and juniors for the 2013 squad, providing an experience group that has played a tough schedule for many years. Senior Ashley Creason and Karla Jamison led SBU in 2012 with 13 points apiece. Ashley scored four goals and five assists while Jamison notched six goals and one assist Both Creason and Jamison are responsible to the two goals so far in 2013. Sophomore Midfielder, Karla's sister, Kate Jamison also brings experience to the SBU squad as she was third on the team in 2012 with three goals.

Noting the Jennies: In 2012, University of Central Missouri had a successful season going 16-2-5 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Jennies lost six seniors off that squad, including Kayla Shain who accounted for 15 points a season ago. However, UCM brings back two of their top three scorers with seniors Becky Lackey and Carly Stanley. The senior duo accounted for 12 goals and 10 assists in 2012.

Series History: Minot State and Southwest Baptist have faced each other just once since the inception of the Beaver soccer program in 2010. In their only meeting, the Beavers beat SBU 1-0 at Herb Parker Stadium in 2012. MISU and UCM have also only met once on the soccer field. Minot State and Central Missouri tied 0-0 in Sept. of last season.

High Expectations: Minot State had a season to remember in 2012. After being voted to finish No. 10 in the NSIC as a first-year member, the Beavers went 15-4-3 on their way to winning the 2012 NSIC Tournament in Mankato, Minn. In 2013, coaches are the league have noticed MISU and voted them No. 3 in this season's poll.

Against the Best: During the soccer program's young history, the Beavers have faced four nationally ranked opponents (all coming in 2012). MISU went 0-2-2 in those matches and are still looking for the first ever win against a ranked opponent. The Beavers will have that opportunity against Central Missouri who is ranked No. 24 in NCAA Division II.

Across the Pond: There is an English feel to this season's Minot State squad, as three players call the United Kingdom home. MISU's all-time scoring leader, Zoe Fisher (Jr., F, Cambridgeshire, England), was the only player from England for the past two seasons. This year, Chloe Melton (Fr., F, Fleet, England) and Sophie Barrett (Fr., Mid., Swindon, England) join Fisher and assistant coach Sam Holmes as England natives connected to the MISU soccer program.

Road Warriors: Dating back to the 2012 season, Minot State is 5-0-0 in their last five true road matches. During this stretch the Beavers have shutout their opponent three times and they have also outscored their opponents 9-2 in this stretch.
