RECORDS: Both Minot State and Winona State enter their week four matchup with a 1-2 overall record.

COACHES CORNER: Minot State's head coach is Paul Rudolph, who is in his seventh season at the helm of the Beaver football program. Rudolph sports  a 32-33 record while at MISU and a career record of 75-80. The Warriors are coached by Tom Sawyer. Sawyer is in his 17th season at the head of the WSU program and has a record of 142-57. He has led the Warriors to a winning record each of his first sixteen seasons.

FOLLOW THE BEAVERS: The game is broadcast locally on KCJB 910-AM with Scott Kittell calling the play-by-play. Live audio can be accessed online at kcjb.com. MISU provides live video and live stats as well as links to the live audio at MSUBeavers.com. Minot State Athletics also is active on Facebook, Twitter and You Tube with all feeds accessible through the home page.

RANKINGS: Neither team received any votes in the Sept. 23 American Football Coaches Association Poll. In the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Warriors were picked No. 3 while the Beavers were tabbed No. 14 out of the 16 teams in the league.

RECENT HISTORY: Minot State dug itself a 24-0 first-half hole and couldn't recover as the Beavers dropped a 37-21 decision on the road at Southwest Minnesota State Friday in Marshall, Minn. The Beavers were forced into  four turnovers for the second week in a row while the SMSU offense kept the Minot State defense of the field for 90 plays. Winona State picked up their first win of the season Saturday afternoon as they rattled off a season-high 65 points, including 41 unanswered points in a home win against MSU-Moorhead. The Warriors racked up 639 yards of offense equaling to 9.3 yards per offensive play. The WSU defense did its part in the win as well, as they held MSU-M to just 2-of-15 on third downs.

OVERALL SERIES: Minot State and Winona State University have never faced each other on the football field. This is the second opponent of 2013 that the Beavers have never faced in its program history. MISU faced Augustana College for the first time in history on Sept. 14 and ended with a 23-17 victory for the Beavers.

NOTING THE WARRIORS: Winona State University notched their first win of the season with a 65-21 route over MSU-Moorhead on Sept. 21 to push their record to 1-2. However, the Warriors could easily be undefeated in 2013 as they lost in overtime to Bemidji State and then lost by three at St. Cloud State. True freshman Jack Nelson has made quite the impression in his first two collegiate games throwing for five touchdowns and 550 yards after an injury to pre-season starter John Teigland. WSU's defense has been solid to start the season, ranking No. 7 in the NSIC allowing just 322.3 yards per game.

JUST LADEAUX IT: In his Minot State debut, Leon La Deaux (Jr., WR, Port Orchard, Wash.) had a major impact on the Beaver offense. The 6-foot-3 receiver snagged a game-high nine catches for 131 yards plus his first career MISU touchdown reception in the 37-21 loss to Southwest Minnesota State. LaDeaux transferred to Minot State last winter to join the Beaver program after spending two seasons at Central Washington University. At CWU, LaDeaux had 37 catches for 352 yards and three touchdowns.

TURNOVER MARGIN: Winning the turnover battle is something that has been a problem for Minot State since joining the Northern Sun in 2012. Last season, the Beavers  ranked last in the NSIC with a -22 turnover margin. They currently sit last with a -8 margin with 10 turnovers (5 fumble, 5 interception) while only forcing two interceptions on the season. However, Winona State ranks No. 14 in the NSIC in turnover margin as they have turned the ball over eight times in 2013.

TACKLING MACHINE: Uepati Fatilua (Sr., LB, Vallejo, Calif.) recorded a career-high 15 tackles (12 solo, 3 assisted) against Southwest Minnesota State on Sept. 20. That is the most tackles in one game for the Beavers since the 2009 season. Teammate Casey Weinmann (Jr., LB, Selz, N.D.) came close when he recorded 14 tackles last season against Wayne State College (9/8). Fatilua now has 23 tackles this season which ranks third on the team.

BARBER FINDS PAYDIRT: For the first time during the 2013 season, Randel Barber (So., RB,  Maricopa, Ariz.) was able to fine the end zone. Barber had a two-yard dive for a touchdown to put the Beavers on the board against SMSU on Sept. 20. He also gained a season-high 75 yards on 12 carries to lead the MISU rushing attack.

STOPPING THE RUN: Minot State will be facing a balanced attacking offense from Winona State, meaning a key to the game will be the Beavers' ability to stop the run. In the last two seasons, the Beavers have held opponents to less than 100 yards rushing just three times. However, the Beavers' record in those games is 2-1 including a win against Augustana College in triple overtime.

PETERS' PLACE IN THE SUN: With 23 on the season, Wayne Peters (Sr., WR, Carson, Calif.) leads the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in receptions. Peters has not only been the leader of a solid receiving corps, but he has also been quarterback Zac Cunha's (So., Rocklin, Calif.) favorite option this season. Along with his 23 receptions, the 5-foot-9 slot receiver has a team-high 227 yards and three touchdowns.

BY THE NUMBERS
1: Josh Weidler (Sr., LB, Velva, N.D.) recorded his first career interception in the loss to Southwest Minnesota State University. Weidler made an incredibly athletic move to time his jump perfectly at the line of scrimmage to snag the throw from SMSU's Charlie Kern. Weidler had played 34 games at Minot State before finally getting his first interceptions.

5: Zac Cunha (So., QB, Rocklin, Calif.) has thrown both five interceptions and five touchdowns on the season. The second-year man has improved his ratio from last season where he threw 21 interceptions but just 14 touchdowns.

30.0: The front seven of the Beaver defense has done an excellent so far in 2013 as they have recorded 30.0 tackles for a loss. Logan Jones (Sr., DL, Lethbridge, Alberta) leads the way for Minot State with 5.0 TFL which ranks him No. 2 in the entire NSIC.
