Season ends with a loss at Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, MINN. - Despite putting up three well fought sets in the match against Bemidji State the Minot State University volleyball team could not come out on top in its final game of the season. 

Falling 24-26, 21-25 and 19-25 the MSU Beavers were not an easy team to defeat Saturday as they were only outhit 38 kills to 34. 

Bemidji State won the game with two key individuals in Jessica Yost and Amanda Tronick who finished with 16 kills and 12 kills, respectively. Tronick also ended the game with three blocks and 10 digs.

Leading the Beavers was Mallory Sall (OH, Sr., Port Coquitlam British Columbia) with 10 kills. Sall ends her career with the Beavers with the third most kills in MSU history. Brileigh Boyce (OH, RFr., Houston, Texas) also played well offensively with eight kills. 

Shaunessy Dauwalder (MH, Jr., Stanley, N.D.) helped MSU defensively with four total blocks. Dauwalder, along with Sall and Tarah Dabovich (MH, Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) will all end their careers in the top five ranking in assisted blocks in school history with Dabovich also in the top five in total blocks. 

Taylor Butters (OH, Jr., Spokane Valley, Wash.) also played her final game as a Beaver. Butters finished with four kills and two blocks. This season, Butters finished with a career high in all statistical categories. 

Leading the team in assists was freshman Kesley Dewulf (S, Huntley, Ill.) with 29. 

Minot State will look to bounce back next season with it's remaining players and incoming class of recruits.
