RANKINGS: Minot State and UMC were not ranked in either the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 poll or the D2Football.com Top 25 this week.

RECENT HISTORY: MSU hung around with No. 22 Bemidji State, but couldn't slow the BSU Beavers running game down in a 52-28 loss. BSU finished with 436 yards rushing overall in the win. MSU's running game got a spark from freshman Ben Zahniser, who finished with 111 yards on 17 carries, both career highs, with two TDs. Another freshman, Titus Dixon, led MSU with a career-high 11 tackles. UMC was outscored 20-7 in the second half and dropped a 26-13 decision to the University of Mary. Nathan Cole passed for 219 yards in the loss.

OVERALL SERIES: Minot State leads the all-time series 6-5 dating back to both team's NAIA days.

LAST TIME OUT: Minnesota Crookston scored 28 second-half points to run away from Minot State 45-14 at Crookston last season. Dre Person led UMC with 215 yards rushing. The Beavers struggled offensively as quarterback Isaiah Weed threw for just 97 yards and running back Jarvis Mustipher's 40 yards rushing led the Beavers.

NOTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Minnesota Crookston has struggled to score points all season, coming into week 8 with just 66 total points… Andre Person leads the team with 411 yards rushing and has two of the team's five rushing scores… Kicker Mike Maw has done the bulk of the scoring as he has 22 points on the season, hitting 6 of 10 field goals and 4 of 6 extra points… Nathan Cole has 872 yards passing, averaging 125 yards per game… Adam Connette has caught 544 of the teams 1078 receiving yards…

NOTING THE BEAVERS: Minot State Ben Zahniser more than doubled his total rushing yards coming into last weekend with his 111-yard outburst. In fact, the true freshman's 70-yard run in the first half was more than he had through six games. He filled in for injured Jarvis Mustipher and recorded career-highs in yards, attempts (17) and touchdowns (2)… If Minot State's fortunes are to turn around this season, they will have to be able to limit the run. MSU is last in the league in suring defense, giving up 6.5 yards per carry and 294 per game. The defense is second best in the NSIC in passing yards allowed at 169, but overall MSU is 15th in the NSIC in total offense due to the run.
