MINOT, N.D. – Minot State University senior punter
Aaron La Deaux was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ team, the organization announced Thursday.
CoSIDA Academic All-District™ recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
La Deaux leads NCAA Division II with a 45.9 per punt average. He has 18 punts that have traveled better than 50 yards, including both a 71-yard and 72-yard punt. He has 15 punts inside the opponents 20. La Deaux is a two-time All-NSIC North Division selection at punter. In the classroom, the history and education major sports a 3.54 GPA.
He becomes the first Minot State football player to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District™ team and becomes the sixth Beaver overall to be named since the university joined NCAA Division II.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2016-17 DII Academic All-America® teams program.
