MANKATO, MINN. – The Minot State University wrestling team went 1-1 on Sunday with a win against Truman State and a loss to Minnesota State.
The Beavers began their day wrestling the Truman State Bulldogs on a neutral mat. The Bulldogs got off to a good start winning the first two matches to go up 9-0, but the Beavers would come back and ultimately win 29-15.
Minot State quickly tied up the competition with a win by decision by
Jered Sublet at 141 and a
Cody Haugen pin at 149.
Shane Sheppard, 157, and
Parker Osterman, 165, would continue the win streak with wins by tech. fall and injury default.
Keegan Berry and
Jake Belland finished off the match strongly for the Beavers with wins at 184 and heavyweight. Belland earned the team's second pin of the day.
Against Minnesota State, it was the Beavers who would get off to an early lead, but ultimately fall by a score of 36-6.
With a two wins by decision from 125-pounder
Liam Hayden and Sublet the Beavers found themselves ahead 6-3, but failed to win any more matches after that.
Minot State will finish the first part of the season with a match against the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. on Friday, December 16 at 7 p.m.
