Game Recap: Baseball |

Game two comeback falls short

DULUTH, Minn. – Trailing 8-1 after the third inning of the second game of the day the Minot State University baseball team climbed its way back to just being down one run after the seventh inning.

The six unanswered runs weren't enough for the Beavers to tie or win the game and with a 21-6 loss in the first game they will be 0-2 against Minnesota Duluth going into another doubleheader tomorrow.

The two games were highlighted by five home runs and three doubles hit by five different MSU players. Celestino Rodriguez hit one of the doubles for the Beavers, his third double in the last three games. Rodriguez's double sparked the comeback attempt in the fourth inning as he brought two runners for his sixth straight game with an RBI.

Kyle Williamson led Minot State with four hits on the day including his fourth home run of the year. Sean Alp brought in a team-high four runs on the day, two of which came from a homer where he brought in himself and Williamson.

Jordan Schulz scored twice, once in each game, to move his total of runs scored to 37 which leads the team. Schulz recorded two hits on the day as well which brings his total to 50, a mark that also leads the team.

Minot State will play a doubleheader against Minnesota Duluth again tomorrow, May 1, beginning at 12 p.m.
