A LOOK AT THE WEEK: Minot State travels to Kutztown, Pa. this week to compete in the Kutztown duals on Friday and Saturday, January 20 and 21. The Beavers will compete against five total schools during the two-day contest. On Friday evening, MSU will match up against Kutztown University and Seton Hill University. Then, on Saturday, East Stroudsburg University, LIU Post and Shippensburg University will challenge the Beavers.
RECORDS: The Beavers are 2-7, 0-3 NSIC after a 25-19 loss at the University of Jamestown. Kutztown is currently riding a win streak of six, with an overall record of 6-1. Seton Hill is 3-4 while East Stroudsburg is 3-6 and LIU Post is 7-4. Minot State will finish the weekend against Shippensburg, which hosts a 5-9 record.
COACHES CORNER: Minot State head coach
Evan Forde is in his second season at the helm of the wrestling team. He is the eighth coach in MSU history and the second coach since the reinstatement of the team and the move to NCAA Division II. Robert Fisher is in his 16th year as the wrestling coach at Kutztown where he also serves as the women's golf head coach. In his time with the Golden Bears, Fisher has amassed a record of 175-86-2. Brian Tucker is in his fifth season with the Seton Hill Griffins. Tucker returns after leading his team to a record high 19th place at Nationals, coaching an All-American. Joey Rivera is currently in his 10th year as the head wrestling coach at East Stroudsburg. Rivera ha a dual record of 58-94-1 in his first nine seasons. Joe Patrovich is in his third season at the helm of the recently reinstated LIU Post wrestling program. In the program's first two years back, Patrovich has led his team to a 15-26 record. Seth Bloomquist is in his eighth season as the head coach at Shippensburg after serving as an assistant to five seasons. During his time as a head coach, Bloomquist has helped 13 wrestlers qualify for NCAA nationals. Â
RANKINGS: Seton Hill (No. 15) and Kutztown (22) were both ranked in the top 25 in the January 4 D2wrestle.com rankings. East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg both received votes in the poll.

NOTING THE GOLDEN BEARS: Kutztown has had a good start to the 2016-17 season resulting in their first appearance in the top 25 on the d2wrestle.com January 4 poll. With a 6-1 record, the Golden Bears have outscored their opponents in duals 190-87.
NOTING THE GRIFFINS: Seton Hill is the 15th ranked team according to the January 4 d2wrestle.com poll despite a record of 3-5. Two of those losses have come against ranked opponents including No. 22 Kutztown. Most recently, the Griffins suffered a road loss at the hands of conference opponent No. 8 Pittsburg at Johnson.
NOTING THE WARRIORS: East Stroudsburg will be coming into the Kutztown Duals off a two-point victory against Shippensburg. The Warriors win came just in time as they were on a three-loss streak before the win against their conference opponent.
NOTING THE PIONEERS: LIU Post has started their season off well, winning seven of their 11 duals despite riding a two-dual loss streak currently. The Pioneers are 1-1 when competing at a neutral site, which includes a 30-point loss and 11-point win.
NOTING THE RAIDERS: Shippensburg will enter the Kutztown Dual with a 6-9 record after losing three-straight, most recently to Seton Hill. The Raiders are 3-5 at neutral site duals, but all three of their neutral site wins have come in their previous five competitions.
