Ranked teams prove themselves against MSU

KUTZTOWN, PA. – The Minot State University wrestling team lost both of its duals in the first day of the Kutztown Duals against No. 22 Kutztown University and No. 15 Seton Hill.
 
The Golden Bears defeated the Beavers 41-3 with four wins by technical fall and two pins.
 
Jered Sublet, 141, won the lone match for MSU against Kutztown when he defeated Ryne Morrison in a 13-8 decision. Sublet now has 13 wins on the season, tied for the team-high.
 
Minot State favored a little better in their next dual against top 15 Seton Hill, but still came up short in a 28-13 loss.
 
The Beavers won three individual match ups, including an 8-1 decision by Jake Belland at heavyweight and a major decision victory for Shane Sheppard at 157 pounds.
 
Minot State will wrestle again tomorrow, January 21, in the second day of the Kutztown Duals against East Stroudsburg at 9 a.m., LIU Post at 10:30 a.m. and Shippenburg at 12 p.m.
