MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's volleyball team swept Bemidji State (25-21, 25-21, 25-13) on Saturday afternoon in the Minot State Dome to record their first win in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play since November 8, 2014.
The win improves the Beavers to 5-19 (1-14 NSIC) on the season, while Bemidji State falls to 3-21 (0-15 NSIC).
Emily Falldorf paced the Minot State offense with 13 kills while
Shelby Spuller and
Nicole Wondrasek added 11 and seven kills, respectively.
Junior
Kelsey Dewulf dished out 34 assists along with four digs.
Karli Koza posted 16 digs to lead the Beaver defense while
Shae Pedersen notched a season-high 15 digs. Spuller and Falldorf recorded a team-high four blocks apiece to lead Minot State.
Minot State posted a 7-4 advantage in blocks over Bemidji State and finished with a .248 hitting percentage in the three-set victory.
Inside Set 1
Bemidji State jumped out to an early 10-3 lead in the first set. MSU came back to take at 15-14 lead on back-to-back Falldorf service aces, a service ace from Dewulf and kill by Spuller. Minot State clinched the set on a kill from Spuller to win 25-21. MSU hit .200 in the set and was led by four kills each from Wondrasek and Spuller.
Inside Set 2
Minot State used the momentum off the first set victory to gain a 3-1 advantage of back-to-back kills from Wondrasek and Brenner. BSU climbed back to take an 8-7 lead. Minot State re-gained the lead with a 7-3 rally and went on to win the set, 25-21 off a kill from Spuller. Falldorf totaled a set-high six kills and MSU posted a .308 hitting percentage.

MSU raced out to 7-3 lead off four BSU errors and kills from
Hayley Swain, Wondrasek and Brenner. Leading 17-11, Minot State capped the match with an 8-2 run off two Falldorf kills and an ace, two BSU errors and kills from Swain, Koza and Spuller.
