ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minot State women's soccer team won a 4-1 decision over St. Cloud State on Sunday afternoon to complete the weekend sweep for the Beavers.
Minot State improves to 7-4-1 (6-3 NSIC) on the season while the Huskies fall to 5-7 (3-6 NSIC). The win extends Minot State's season-long winning streak to four matches.
St. Cloud State raced out to a quick 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. Kaitlyn Dziubinski scored her first goal of the season on a shot from 20 yards out that curled into the low left corner of the goal.
Minot State responded with the equalizer in the 14
th minute off the goal from
Haley Berryman.
Daniela Fonseca played the ball past the defense, and Berryman ran it down to score her fourth goal of the season from the right side.
Jordan Cook scored the go-ahead goal for the Beavers in 20
th minute off the assist from
Kelli Creese, posting her fifth goal of the season.
In the 52
nd minute,
Kelli Creese found the net on the header off the corner kick from
Ashley Franco.
Freshman
Sofia Lewis capped the scoring for the Beavers in the 74
th minute. Lewis placed the ball in the corner of the net off the 21 yard free kick to score her team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Goalkeeper
Erin Rafferty improved to 7-4-1 on the season in the goal for the Beavers while notching two saves in the victory.
Minot State finished with a 16-8 advantage in shots over the Huskies and a 7-4 lead in corner kicks.
