MINOT, N.D. -- Minot State will conclude the 2017 season at St. Cloud State on Saturday (Nov. 11) in Husky Stadium in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
The Beavers will look to end the season on a positive note after suffering several near misses during the course of the year. Minot State has lost four games this season by eight points for less, and in two of those games it had the opportunity to tie or win the game on the final play.
Minot State, which is 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the NSIC North, is coming off of one of those games last week in the home finale against Minnesota State Moorhead. The Beavers drove to the Minnesota State Moorhead 6-yard line in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter but three consecutive incomplete passes resulted in the Dragons hanging on for a 22-16 victory.
Senior Larry Overstreet posted his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game as he netted 115 yards on 27 carries and he also had four receptions for 30 yards, while senior quarterback
Zac Cunha was 15-of-34 for 199 yards and a touchdown and moved to within one touchdown of tying the school record of 53 career touchdown passes.
Senior safety Donnell Vercher had a career-high 17 tackles and a tackle for loss, while Manuel Bradford added nine tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Sophomore kicker
JoseLuis Moreno earned NSICÂ Special Teams Player of the Week honors after having a career day against the Dragons. He was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, which included a career-best 40-yard field goal and he averaged 52.2 yards per punt including a career-long 69-yard effort. He also averaged 59.6 yards per kickoff and had two touchbacks.
St. Cloud State enters the game with a 6-4 overall record, but has dropped back-to-back games against Northern State (21-16) and Bemidji State (17-10).
