MINOT, N.D. -- Senior Tyler Rudolph scored a career-high 40 points leading Minot State to a 91-46 victory over Mayville State on Tuesday in the Beavers home opener in the Minot State Dome.

Rudolph topped his previous career-high of 37, which he scored against Henderson State on Saturday, by making 15-of-17 shots from the field including making 6-of-7 three-point baskets. He also was 4-of-5 from the free throw line and finished with a double-double with 10 rebounds. He rounded out his night by blocking two shots and recording two steals.

Minot State improved to 3-0 on the season with the win, which marked the first time since the 2013-14 season the Beavers have opened the season with three straight wins. The Beavers posted their third straight double-digit victory and currently are outscoring opponents by 29 points a game.

Mayville State, which played the game as an exhibition contest, hung around in the first half and trailed 41-32 at the break. Minot State held the Comets to 12.9 percent shooting in the second half and outscored Mayville State 50-14.

Rudolph scored 23 points in the first half and then scored eight points as the Beavers opened the second half on a 15-0 run that stretched the lead to 56-32 with 14:40 to play in the second half.

Mayville State was unable to get the second-half deficit under 20 points and the Beavers took their largest lead of the game on the final basket when Damjan Jovikj drilled a three-pointer with 39 seconds to play.

Max Cody scored nine points and Nathaniel Moore added eight points for Minot State. David Akibo added seven points and eight rebounds, while Luis Ricci Maia had eight assists, three rebounds and two points.

Mayville State was led by Gorg Alhag who scored 13 points.

Minot State returns to action on Thursday (Nov. 16) when it hosts Dickinson State at 7:30 p.m. in the Minot State Dome.
