Beavers Set for Final Weekend of 2017 Season

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State volleyball team hosts a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams for the final weekend of the 2017 season. The Beavers will face Minnesota State on Friday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. and No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. in the Minot State Dome.

Beaver Bits

Sophomore Shelby Spuller carries the Minot State offense with 3.17 kills per set.

Emily Falldorf has notched 183 kills while Jeanne Brenner and Hayley Swain have recorded 151 and 145 kills, respectively.

Junior Kelsey Dewulf paces the Beavers with 8.75 assists per set.

Swain leads Minot State with 0.78 blocks per set, followed by Falldorf with 0.68 blocks per set.

Freshman Karli Koza ranks third in the NSIC with 5.18 digs per set. Koza was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 9 for her performance vs. No. 17 Augustana and No. 21 Wayne State.

Scouting the Minnesota State Mavericks

Minnesota State enters the weekend with a 13-13 overall record and 7-11 mark in the NSIC this season. Sydney Powell leads the Mavericks with 2.80 kills per set, followed by Alivia Garbe and Morgan Olson with 2.51 and 2.40 kills per set, respectively. Anissa Janzig carries the defense with 0.73 blocks per set.

Head coach Lori Rittenhouse-Wollmuth is in her third season at Minnesota State with a career record of 45-39.

Minnesota State leads the all-time series with Minot State, 7-1. The Mavericks have swept the Beavers twice this seasonat the Max & Erma's Classic at Northern State on Sept. 8 and in Mankato, Minn. on Sept. 23.

Scouting the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears

Concorida-St. Paul comes into the weekend with a No. 1 ranking in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll and an overall record of 24-2 (17-1 NSIC). Brooklyn Lewis ranks fourth in the NSIC with 4.00 kills per set while Mariya Sampson ranks 12th with 3.20 kills per set. Elizabeth Mohr paces the offense and leads the NSIC with 13.36 assists per set. Sydney Book and Sara Macek lead the Golden Bear defense with 0.85 and 0.84 blocks per set, respectively.

Head coach Brady Starkey is in his 15th season at the helm of the Golden Bear program and holds a career record of 489-48.

The Golden Bears lead the all-time series with the Beavers, 7-0. Concordia-St. Paul swept Minot State earlier this season on Sept. 22 in St. Paul, Minn.
