MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's basketball team fell to the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons 85-64 on Saturday evening in the Minot State Dome.

The Beavers fall to 4-3 (1-2 NSIC) on the season while the Dragons improve to 5-1 (2-0 NSIC).

MSU Moorhead shot 42.9 percent from the field, including 44.4 percent from three-point range to take a 22-13 lead after the first quarter.

Minot State fought back to make to cut the deficit to 30-26 on layup from Mariah Payne, but that was as close as the Beavers got, as the Dragons took a 41-33 into halftime.

The Dragons shot 7 of 10 from three-point range while outscoring the Beavers 44-31 in the second half on their way to the 85-64 victory.

Holly Johnson led Minot State in scoring with 15 points, followed by Madison Wald and Kristal Flowers with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Flowers grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds while Johnson dished out a game-high seven assists.

Minot State shot 84 percent from the free throw line and 37 percent from the field while assisting on 13 of 22 field goals.

The Beavers totaled 37 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive end and outscored in the Dragons in the paint by margin of 28-16.

Minot State returns to action next weekend, as they travel for their first road games of the season at Augustana on Friday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. and Wayne State on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m.
