MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's soccer team jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half and used a three-goal performance in the second half, propelling the Beavers to a 4-0 victory over Sioux Falls.
The win improves Minot State to 4-4-1 (3-3 NSIC) on the season while the Cougars fall to 3-5-1 (2-3-1 NSIC).
The Beavers scored first off
Sofia Lewis's team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 20
th minute.
Haley Berryman was credited for the assist, her first of two on the day.
Freshman
Jordyn Cook extended the Minot State lead to 2-0 in the 57
th minute to score her fourth goal of the season. Cook scored in the left side of the net off the rebound from a shot by Lewis. Lewis and Berryman recorded the assists.
In the 85
th minute, Berryman scored her third goal of the season on a breakaway goal off an assist from
Emily Woods.
Sydnee Canales capped the scoring for Minot State in the 87
th minute. Canales scored her second goal of the season off a pass from Melanie Van Walstijn.
Goalkeeper
Erin Rafferty recorded two saves while completing her fifth shutout of the season.
Minot State held a slim 13-11 advantage in shots over the Cougars.
