MINOT, N.D. -- Following a much-needed win, the Minot State women's soccer team returns to action with a pair of road matches at Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State. The Beavers meet Sioux Falls on Friday (Oct. 12) at 5 p.m. and then play Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday (Oct. 14) at 12 p.m.
Minot State, which is 6-4-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, got a much-needed victory last Sunday when it defeated Minnesota Crookston 4-0 to snap a two-match losing streak. Sophomore
Sofia Lewis recorded a hat trick to lead the Beavers and
Jannely Rangel also added a goal for the Beavers.
The Beavers are currently tied with Northern State, Minnesota Duluth and Winona State for sixth place in the NSIC standings with a 4-4-1 record.
With her hat trick, Lewis upped her season total to nine goals, which ranks second in the conference. She also ranks second in the league in points, points per game and goals per game and is fifth in the NSIC in assists and assist per game.
Senior
Haley Berryman is ranked eighth in the NSIC in goals (5) and is 11th in the league in points (12).
Audrey Wilson and
Sydnee Canales are tied for ninth in the conference in assists with three.
Junior
Erin Rafferty is currently fifth in the conference in shutouts with three and is eighth in the league with a 1.043 goals against average.
Sioux Falls is currently 4-7-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the NSIC. The Cougars are 1-1-1 in their last three matches with a win over Minnesota Crookston, a draw with Concordia-St. Paul and a loss to Minnesota State. Aundria Vargas, Lindsey Power and McKayla Philippi each have two goals on the season to lead USF.
Southwest Minnesota State is 3-8 on the season and have a 3-6 mark in conference play. The Mustangs have dropped their last three matches and have been outscored 16-1 over that span. Alli Miskowiec and Abbey Hoisington have each scored five goals for Southwest Minnesota State.
