MINOT, N.D. -- Junior Cinthya Samaniego scored on a header at the 61:07 mark of the second period and Minot State rallied to defeat St. Cloud State 3-2 in the quarterfinal round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament on Wednesday in Herb Parker Stadium. With the win, the Beavers advance to the semifinals of the tournament and will face Mary on Friday (Nov. 2) in Mankato, Minn.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Maria Kass got the Huskies off to a quick start as she scored at the 6:56 mark of the first period giving St. Cloud State a 1-0 lead
• Maria Witte upped the Huskies lead to 2-0 at the 10:46 mark of the first period with a header off a corner kick
• Sofia Lewis broke the ice for the Beavers with a goal at the 15:21 mark of the first period
• Sofia Lewis tied the match at 2-2 with a header off a ball into the box delivered by Audrey Wilson
• Cinthya Samaniego scored the game-winning goal off assists from Jordyn Cook and Haley Berryman giving the Beavers a 3-2 lead

• Sofia Lewis tallied two goals, her 15th and 16th goals of the season, for the Beavers
• Cinthya Samaniego scored her first goal of the season, which proved to be the game winner, for Minot State
• Audrey Wilson, Jordyn Cook and Haley Berryman all had assists for Minot State
• Erin Rafferty made five saves and picked up the win in goal for the Beavers
