Beavers Advance to NSIC Championship with Victory over Mary

MANKATO, Minn. -- Senior Haley Berryman scored two goals and Cinthya Samaniego added a goal and an assist as Minot State advanced to the championship match of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Mary on Friday at The Pitch on the campus of Minnesota State. The Beavers will meet the host Mavericks in the championship match on Sunday (Nov. 4) at 1 p.m. with an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament awaiting the winner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cinthya Samaniego got the Beavers on the scoreboard at the 34:20 mark of the first period with a goal off an assist from Audrey Wilson
  • Haley Berryman increased the lead to 2-0 on a goal at the 56:05 mark of the second period off a pass from Cinthya Samaniego
  • Haley Berryman increased the lead to 3-0 at the 79:54 mark of the second period as she scored off a pass from Taryn Love
  • Mary got on the scoreboard at the 82:45 mark of the second period when Megan Lowery scored off a corner kick

  • Minot State improved to 13-4-3 overall and advanced to the championship match of the NSIC Tournament
  • Minot State is 8-0-1 in its last nine matches and has won seven straight
  • Minot State advanced to the NSIC Tournament Championship match for the second time in school history
