MANKATO, Minn. -- Sofia Lewis had five shots and Haley Berryman recorded three shots, but Minnesota State edged Minot State 1-0 to win the 2018 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament Championship on Sunday on The Pitch.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Neither team was able to score in the first period, but the Beavers held an 8-5 advantage in shots and a 5-0 advantage on shots on goal
• Dakota Wendell scored at the 59:20 mark of the second period on an assist from Morgan Cottew giving the Mavericks a 1-0 lead
• Minnesota State owned a 19-3 advantage in shots in the second period

BEAVER TRACKS

• Sophomore Sofia Lewis led Minot State with five shots, including three shots on goal
• Senior Haley Berryman had three shots and one shot on goal
• Ashley Hunter and Melanie van Walstijn each had a shot for Minot State
• Erin Rafferty made five saves in 90 minutes of play in goal for the Beavers

TEAM NOTES

• Minot State dropped to 13-5-3 overall
• The Mavericks handed the Beavers their first loss in the last 10 matches
• Minnesota State held a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks in the second period
