Beavers Drop NSIC Game to Upper Iowa on Hall of Fame Weekend

MINOT, N.D. -- Freshman Lofton Klabunde caught his first career touchdown pass, but it was not enough to overcome Upper Iowa as the Peacocks defeated the Beavers 44-9 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game on Saturday at Herb Parker Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Upper Iowa opened the scoring when Jonathan Argueta-Herrera connected on a 40-yard field goal in the first quarter
  • Jonthan Argueta-Herrera upped the lead to 6-0 for Upper Iowa when he drilled a 35-yard field goal with 10:56 to play in the second quarter
  • Jonathan Argueta-Herrera converted his third field goal of the game at the 5:25 mark of the seocnd quarter increasing the Peacocks lead to 9-0
  • Brent Lammers connected with Bralin Simons on an 8-yard TD pass to push the lead to 16-0 at halftime
  • Brent Lammers hit Alexander Stevens on a 57-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring in the second half to up the margin to 23-0
  • Antoine Conner scampered in from four yards out to increase the Upper Iowa lead to 30-0
  • Minot State got on the scoreboard at the 6:00 mark of the third quarter when Ryan DeMarois sacked Brent Lammers in the end zone for a safety
  • Lofton Klabunde got his first career touchdown pass, a 2-yard pass from Ben Bolinske, to cut the lead to 30-9
  • Mitchel Siech intercepted Ben Bolinske and raced 26 yards for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter
  • Ryan Parmely capped the scoring with an 11-yard TD run in the fourth quarter
