Shelby Spuller broke the Minot State school record for kills in a season in the Division II era, but the Beavers dropped their season finale to No. 4 Minnesota Duluth 25-13, 25-9, 25-15 on Saturday in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match in Romano Gymnasium. Spuller finished the season with 401 kills, which topped the DII record of 400 kills set by Mallory Sell in 2012.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jeanne Brenner had four kills and a .571 attack percentage, but Minnesota Duluth hit .382 to win the first set 25-13
- The Bulldogs hit .467 in the second set and won 25-9 despite three kills from Shelby Spuller
- Shelby Spuller had five kills and Emily Falldorf had four kills, but Minnesota Duluth closed out the match with a 25-15 victory
