Neubauer Double Lifts Beavers to Split at Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Skyla Neubauer delivered an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning lifting Minot State to an 8-7 win over Bemidji State in game two of a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Chet Anderson Stadium.

With one out in the top of the eighth inning, Camille Greene drew a walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Alaina Marshall. Following a strikeout, Neubauer lined a double to right-centerfield and Marshall scored on a great slide at the plate. The throw from the outfield beat Marshall to the plate, but she skirted around the catcher and dove back to touch home plate before being tagged.

The win by the Beavers salvaged a split on the day as Bemidji State got a walk-off win in the opener 5-4.

Bemidji State took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of game two, but Minot State would respond by scoring three times to take the lead.

Kyla Larson singled to lead off the inning and stole second base to move into scoring position. Isis Cabral followed with a triple to score Larson and she trotted home following a Bemidji State throwing error to tie the score at 2-2.

Neubauer capped the inning when she singled up the middle to bring home Haley Hernandez to put Minot State in front 3-2.

Bemidji State tied the game in the bottom of the third inning with a run, but Minot State regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning when Cabral scored on a wild pitch after beginning the inning with a single.

Minot State (21-16, 8-8 NSIC) pushed the lead to 7-3 with a three-run fifth inning.

Neubauer led off the inning with a single and stole second base. Lauren Cowden singled to left moving Neubauer to third base. After Cowden stole second, Julian Suchan singled to score Neubauer and up the Beaver lead to 5-3.

Tori Zimmermann added an RBI double and Cabral singled in the final run of the inning giving Minot State a 7-3 advantage.

Bemidji State (14-18, 3-7 NSIC) rallied to tie the game by scoring four times in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Laura Mendez picked up the win for the Beavers as she improved to 10-9 on the season.

Bemidji State won the opening game of the doubleheader 5-4 in walk-off fashion.

Minot State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game one with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning.

Larson led off the inning with a double and Cabral was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch and Ashley Hill reached on an infield single that plated Larson giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead.

Greene followed with an RBI fielder's choice that scored Cabral and upped the Minot State lead to 2-0.

Minot State extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning when Zimmermann hit her eighth home run of the season.

Bemidji State rallied to take the lead by scoring four times in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Minot State answered in the top of the fifth inning when Cabral ripped her fifth homer of the season to tie the game at 4-4.

Makayla Pagel delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring Jessica Burlingame with the winning run.

Lauren Cowden had three hits to lead the Beavers in game one, while Larson and Cabral each had two hits. Hill, Greene and Zimmermann each recorded one hit.

Kylie Patrick took the loss for Minot State in relief of Mendez.

Cabral had five hits in the doubleheader to lead Minot State, while Cowden and Larson had four base hits.

Minot State returns to action this weekend as it hosts Winona State on Saturday (April 21) and Upper Iowa on Sunday (April 22). Sunday's doubleheader with the Peacocks will mark Senior Day for the Beavers.
