SIOUX FALLS, S.D.Ethan Fleming and Celestino Rodriguez each drove in two runs during a 10-run first inning and Minot State remained alive in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament with a 13-6 victory over St. Cloud State on Thursday at Karras Park.

With the win, Minot State improves to 33-15 and earned a return game against Northern State on Friday (May 11) at 3:30 p.m. at Karras Park. The Beavers opened the tournament against Northern State and the Wolves handed the Beavers a 13-6 loss.

Minot State wasted no time in jumping on the Huskies in the Beavers second game of the day. The 10 runs scored by Minot State in the first inning tied a season high. It matched Minot State's 10 runs scored in the sixth inning of a 27-12 win over Minnesota Duluth.

Wyatt Schlosser reached on an infield single to load the bases and Rodriguez delivered the Beavers first run with a sacrifice fly to center scoring Smith.

Borst reached on another throwing error, which scored Fleming with the eighth run of the inning. Schlosser tacked on an RBI single and Rodriguez capped the outburst with an RBI groundout.

It was more than enough offense for Minot State starter Jaymon Cervantes who went 7.0 innings and allowed three runs while striking out 10 to improve to 6-0 on the season. His 10 strikeouts was one shy of his season high of 11 registered against Minnesota Crookston.

St. Cloud State scored a run in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning, but Williamson answered that with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the sixth inning.
