BISMARCK, N.D. – Junior
Wyatt Schlosser hit his Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference-leading 19
th double of the season in the second game of a doubleheader at University of Mary on Friday in Bismarck, N.D. to set a single-season record for most doubles in a season at Minot State.
The Beavers swept the Marauders after winning 4-2 in eight innings in the first game before posting a 6-3 victory in the second game.
Minot State is 29-15 overall and 27-6 in NSIC play on the season while the Marauders drop to 5-36 (2-28 NSIC).
Game One
After stranding a pair of runner for two consecutive innings, the Beavers broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the third inning.
Michael Borst led off the inning with a single up the middle before
Celestino Rodriguez belted his team-leading ninth home run of the season over the right field fence to give the Beavers a 2-0 lead.
UMary cut the deficit in half on an RBI single in the bottom half of the third inning before tying the game with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Both teams were held scoreless for the next three innings, as the Beavers and Marauders went into extra innings with a 2-2 tie.
Rodriguez reached base on an infield single before advancing to third on a single by
Darrel Doll.
Andrew Black scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch after pinch-running for Rodriguez.
With a runner on third and a 3-2 lead,
Justin Demary reached base on a fielding error by the Marauders, allowing Doll to score and double Minot State's lead to 4-2.
Demary recorded the first out in the eighth inning before
Tannar Galey retired the final two batters to clinch the 4-2 victory.
Demary improved to 5-4 on the season after giving up two runs on five hits and striking out eight batters in 7.1 innings of work while Galey notched his second save of the season.
Rodriguez led the Beavers at the plate with a team-high two hits and two RBIs.

Ethan Fleming, Doll and Borst recorded one hit apiece.
Game Two
The Beaver offense carried the momentum from the first game into the second game, as Minot State scored in the first three innings.
Minot State scored a run in the first inning after Schlosser and Rodriguez connected on back-to-back doubles. The Beavers doubled their lead when Williamson ripped an RBI single through the right side to score Demary.
The Marauders trimmed the deficit in half after scoring on a fielding error by Minot State.
Minot State responded with two runs in the next half inning to improve their lead to 4-1.
Trevaun Smith led off the inning with his sixth home run of the season before Borst and Schlosser reeled off consecutive singles.
Rodriguez followed by grounding into a 6-4-3 double play to end the string of hits, but Borst scored to propel the Beaver lead to 4-1.
UMary scored two runs in the fourth inning off three hits and a Minot State error to make it a one-run game again going into the fifth inning.
Fleming led off the fifth inning with a single and later scored on an RBI triple from Borst. The Beavers scored their final run on an RBI double from Rodriguez, scoring Borst and growing the Minot State lead to 6-3.
Starter
Andres Hackman held the Marauders scoreless for the next 2.2 innings before
Jack Gamba notched his fourth save of the season to clinch the doubleheader sweep over UMary.
Hackman tossed 6.2 innings on the mound while surrendering three runs, two earned, on six hits and striking out five hitters. Gamba recorded the final out to earn the save.
Borst, Schlosser, Rodriguez and Fleming led Minot State at the plate with two hits apiece while Smith, Demary and Williamson recorded one hit each.
