MINOT, N.D. -- Sofia Lewis and Haley Berryman each scored two goals as Minot State opened the 2018 season with a 6-0 victory over Black Hills State in the Microtel Inn & Suites Classic on Thursday at Herb Parker Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Minot State jumped out to a 1-0 lead just a minute into the match when Sofia Lewis scored on a penalty kick
• Haley Berryman scored her first goal of the season at the 13:04 mark of the first period to up the lead to 2-0
• Minot State took a 3-0 lead into the intermission when Melanie van Walstijn scored at the 17:32 mark
• Sofia Lewis scored her second goal of the match, and upped the lead to 4-0, at 59:03
• Haley Berryman tallied her second goal on a header to push the lead to 5-0 at 66:45
• Taryn Love scored the Beavers final goal of the match at the 76:39 mark of the second period

BEAVER TRACKS

• Sofia Lewis finished with five points for the Beavers as she had two goals and an assist
• Haley Berryman tallied a pair of markers for Minot State
• Sydnee Canales had two assists on the afternoon to lead the Beavers
• Ashley Franco had an assist for the Beavers
• Erin Rafferty and Mackenzie Long shared the shutout in goal for Minot State
