(BEMIDJI, MINN.) --Â The Minot State University soccer team was defeated on the road at Bemidji State University earlier this afternoon. Bemidji State outscored the visiting Beavers 3-1 amidst an incoming winter storm.
Â
Bemidji State's Sara Wendt started the scoring with a goal in the 13
th-minute. The 1-0 score held throughout the remainder of the first half. Bemidji's second half offense matched the weather with a flurry of two more goals in the 67
th- and 68
th-minute by Wendt and Erin Becker.
Â
Minot State's offense couldn't capitalize until the 86
th-minute of play when
Sofia Lewis scored her first goal of the season on a penalty kick. The margin was too wide, though, and Bemidji State held on to win.
Â
In net, Bemidji State's keeper Emma Reidi saved three shots while allowing the penalty score. On the other side, senior GK
Erin Rafferty made five saves to go along with three goals allowed.
Â
Minot State's overall record dropped to 1-9-0 overall and 1-6-0 in NSIC play. Bemidji State improved their season's mark to 7-2-1 overall and an undefeated 6-0-1 in league competition.
Â
Minot State was slated to be back in action this Sunday at Minnesota-Crookston but that contest was postponed until Nov. 5 due to inclement weather. Instead, the Beavers will be back in action next Friday, Oct. 18 at home versus the University of Sioux Falls.
