Beavers Lose to Winona State, 49-3

(Winona, Minn.) -- In a Sunday game that was postponed due to the weather, the Beavers fell to Winona State, 49-3.

The first quarter did not start well for the Beavers. To start the game, Winona State marched down the field to score on a five-play 57-yard touchdown drive to give the Warrior an early 7-0 lead. On the Beavers' first offensive drive, a pass was intercepted, leading to another Warrior touchdown, giving them a 14-0 lead with just over eight minutes to go in the first quarter. The first quarter would end in the same score.

The Warriors had the ball and were driving to start the second quarter, and they would add a touchdown less than two minutes in the second to go up 21-0. The Beavers were finally able to put together a scoring drive, going 86 yards in 15 plays, capped off by a JoseLuis Moreno 20-yard field goal to narrow the deficit to 21-3. The Warriors would answer quickly, however, putting together a seven-play 44-yard drive to take a 28-3 lead into halftime.

The Beavers started the second half with the ball and were able to put together a good drive, going 53 yards in seven plays, but it ended with a fumble with Winona State recovering. The Warriors would capitalize and score again, expanding their lead to 35-3. The Warriors would continue to pour it on, scoring another touchdown midway through the third quarter, extending the lead to 42-3. Winona State would add another touchdown going up 49-3 before the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Beavers put together another good drive, going 65 yards on 17 plays. Unfortunately, it would not end well with JoseLuis Moreno missing a 24-yard field goal. Neither team would score the remainder of the quarter, ending the game with Winona State on top 49-3.
