(Fayette, IA.) -- The Minot State University volleyball team traveled to Fayette, Iowa, to face #21 Upper Iowa University, but lost in three sets 25-14, 25-17, 25-15.Â

Kills from Shelby Spuller and Emily Falldorf led to an early tie at 3-3 in the first set. Following that, Upper Iowa went on an early 4-0 run led by Anna Winters. She produced a service ace and a kill to give the Peacocks a 7-3 lead. The Beavers were able to score but could not produce runs, where Upper Iowa continued to go on runs, which allowed them to expand the lead. The Peacocks went on to win the first set 25-14.Â

Two Kills from Spuller and one from Hayley Swain led to an 8-8 tie early on in the second set. Upper Iowa would go on another run; however, this time 5-0. Quinn Billaney and Spuller were vital in the Beavers, answering back with a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to 13-12. The Peacocks, leading 14-13, would go on another 4-0 run, which expanded the lead and allowed them to take the second set 25-17.

Minot State took the early 3-1 lead with three kills coming from Spuller. Upper Iowa came back and took the lead 8-6. Minot State could not continue to create runs of their own as the Peacocks went on a pair of runs, first 3-0, and then 7-0 to take a commanding 18-7 lead and would take the third set 25-15.
