Beaver Men's Basketball Extends Win Streak to Five

(MINOT, N.D.) -- The Minot State men's basketball team extended its season-opening winning streak to five games on Saturday night after defeating Yellowstone Christian College 92-40.

The game started relatively evenly early on with the Beavers leading 10-9 with 16 minutes to go in the first half. Over the next four minutes, the Beavers would go on a 12-2 run to take a 22-11 lead. The Beavers would go on another large run shortly after, outscoring the Centurions 13-5 heading into the media timeout with a 36-16 lead. Minot State would continue the momentum, outscoring Yellowstone Christian 16-4 throughout the remainder of the half to go into the locker room leading 52-20.

It would be more of the same, with the Beavers dominating in the second half, starting with 12 unanswered points to start the half. The Centurions would answer with five straight before the Beavers would continue to expand the lead to 81-29 with just over five minutes to play. The Beavers would eventually go on to win 92-40.

The Beavers were led in scoring by Kody Dwyer, who took advantage of his size advantage, scoring 21 points. Kyle Beisch, Aleksa Cucovic, Max Cody, and Duane Goodman also scored in double figures, scoring 15, 14, 11, and 11 points. Stephane Manzi and Cucovic had nine, and seven rebounds. Cody flirted with a double-double, dishing out eight assists and also adding four steals. The Beavers shot 55.4 (36-65) percent.

The Beavers have a couple of days off and are back at it on Tuesday, Nov. 26, as they host an old foe in Valley City State University at 7:30 p.m.
