Beaver FB Searches for Elusive Fourth Win

(MINOT, N.D.) -- The Minot State University football team looks to set a division two era record with their fourth win on the season. The Beavers will take on St. Cloud State at 1:00 p.m.

  Vs. St. Cloud State 
  • In a series that goes back to 1937, the Beavers trail in the matchup 4-10-1. 
  • St. Cloud State has won six of the last seven matchups between the two teams since Minot State became a division two member.
  • The Huskies won the first five matchups until the Beavers were victorious 23-13 in 2017, before St. Cloud would take the 2018 matchup.

  • Offensively, the Beavers are averaging 17.7 points per game.
  • Minot State's offense is sixth in the NSIC in rushing yards with 161.4 per game. 
  • Freshman running back Ali Mohamed leads Minot State in rushing yards and is fifth in the conference in total yards and sixth in yards per game with 687 rushing yards and a per-game average of 76.3.
  • Lavante Bushnell is the go-to receiver for the Beavers with 487 yards, which is good for 11th best in the conference. Last week he also broke the Beavers D2 Era career receiving touchdown record when he grabbed his 18th of his career. He has also taken over kick return duties for the last couple of weeks and has done very well in that role. 
  • Senior kicker/punter JoseLuis Moreno is seventh in the nation and first in the NSIC in punting yards (2,401). He is seventh in the country in punting average (42.2). Moreno has recorded 16 punts inside the 20, and 20 50+ yard punts. He is also 9-12 on field goal attempts.
  • Isaiah Bigby has been a leader on the defense with 59 tackles on the season. Also, he is tied with Justin Coleman, and Knylen Miller-Levi for the team lead in interceptions with two and has added two sacks.
  • Tamrick Ross is leading the team in tackles for loss with 5.5 and also is tied with Ellis Parr for the team lead with 2.5 sacks.
  • The Beaver defense has also picked off seven passes this season.
  • As a team, Minot State is one of the more disciplined teams in the conference, with only 39 penalties on the season (third in the NSIC).

  St. Cloud State 
  • The Huskies are currently 3-6 on the season.
  • SCSU has the ninth-best scoring offense in the conference, averaging 22.7 points per game. 
  • St. Cloud State has two dangerous receivers, with John Solberg, and Tanner Teige both in the top ten in receiving yards per game. 
  • Their quarterback Dwayne Lawhorn averages 208.3 yards from scrimmage per game. That is sixth in the NSIC.
  • On defense, the Huskies get in the backfield. Graham Miller is fourth in the NSIC in tackles for loss (12.5), and Zach Stecklein and Ferris Ingraham have 5.5 sacks each.
  • They are third in the conference in sacks as a team with 29.
  • Their defense has given up an average of 22.3 points per game.
