Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Beavers First Half Does Them In, In Duluth

(MINOT, N.D.) – The Minot State University, men's basketball team, fell in their NSIC road opener.

The Beavers were defeated by the University of Minnesota Duluth 72-54.

Minot State got off to a cold start in the first half and was not able to heat up throughout the half. In the first half, the Beavers shot 21.4 (6-28) percent and made just one of their thirteen three-point attempts. Going into the locker room for halftime, the Beavers were down 41-16.

The second half went much better for Minot State, outscoring the Bulldogs 38-31. The Beavers improved their shooting substantially, going 15-39 for a percentage of 38.5. The Beavers still struggled from beyond the arc, hitting four of their 14 second-half attempts. The improved shooting numbers in the second half did not change the result; however, as the Beavers fell 72-54.

Despite the struggles offensively, the Beavers have some positives to take out of this one with the 38-31 second-half performance and holding one of the best offenses in the conference to almost 20 points below their season average.

The Beavers will look to build upon those positives tomorrow evening when they take on St. Cloud State at 5:30 p.m.

In the game, the Beavers had three players score in double figures, with Nibra White (14), Kody Dwyer (12), and Trevor Rothstein (10) all playing well on that side of the court. Those three combined to shoot 65 (15-23) percent. Dwyer had eight rebounds in the game, while Max Cody led the team with five assists.
