Wolves Spoil Minot State's Senior Day

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's basketball team overcame a double-digit deficit to take the lead midway through the fourth quarter, but couldn't complete the comeback victory as Northern State held on for a 73-68 win at the Minot State Dome on Saturday afternoon.

Minot State wraps up the regular season with a 13-15 (8-14) record while the Wolves head into the NSIC Tournament with a 10-18 (7-15) mark.

How It Happened
  • After edging Minot State in the first quarter, 16-13, Northern State shot 69.2 percent from the floor in the second quarter to take a 36-25 lead at halftime.
  • Clements converted a layup plus the free throw to cut the NSU lead to 49-46 with 1:10 left in the third quarter before the Wolves knocked down a trey and a pair of free throws to stretch the lead to 54-48 heading into the final quarter.
  • Wald and Mariah Payne combined for an 8-0 rally to give the Beavers a 61-60 with 5:33 left in the game.
  • With 4:30 left, Payne scored on a layup and the and-one free throw to give Minot State its final lead at 64-62.
  • Northern State went 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to clinch the 73-68 road victory.
