Michael Borst went 4-for-4 at the plate while tallying his 175
th career hit to set a new DII school record in Minot State's 11-2 win over Northwestern (Iowa) on Monday night in Tucson, Ariz.
The Beavers improve their win streak to three games and are now 4-6 on the season.
How It Happened
- Minot State broke open the game early, hanging a crooked number with four runs on four hits in the second inning.
- Mason Gifford walked Jake Collins singled before Gifford touched home on Geordie McDougall's RBI single.
- Collins scored on Trevaun Smith's RBI groundout before Borst's two-RBI single brought home McDougall and Ryley Humrighouse to double the lead.
- Northwestern plated a run in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly.
- Minot State added a run in the fourth inning when Borst led off with a double and later stole home to make it a 5-1 game.
- Northwestern scored its final run of the game on a wild pitch in the fourth inning.
- RBI singles from Borst, Darrel Doll and Celestino Rodriguez helped the Beavers plate three runs on four hits in the sixth inning.
