FAYETTE, Iowa – The Minot State softball team extended its win streak to five with a NSIC doubleheader sweep over Upper Iowa on the road on Friday in Fayette, Iowa.
 
The wins push the Beavers to 26-19 overall on the season and 15-13 in conference games.
 
Game One: Minot State 8, Upper Iowa 4
 
How It Happened

• Maggie Mercer reached in the first on a Peacock throwing error before scoring on an RBI single by Lauren Cowden.
• Upper Iowa scored two runs on a pair of hits and Minot State errors to take a one-run lead.
• The Beavers re-gained the lead in the third when Karlee Coughlin launched a two-run home run to right field.
• The Beavers hung a crooked number with five runs in the fourth inning, including two runs from Kiera Shwaluk's two-RBI single down the left field line.
• The Peacocks scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Beaver held on for an 8-4 victory.

• Cowden scored on a groundout by Alina Gonzalez to cut the deficit in half in the second inning.
• The Peacocks got the run back in the bottom half of the inning.
• The Beavers tacked on five runs on three hits, including a three-run home run by Robbins to snag a 6-3 advantage.
• Minot State built on to its lead with Jamie Odlum's two-RBI single in the fifth inning.
• Cowden ripped a two-RBI single in the sixth inning as Minot State scored three in the sixth to take an 11-3 lead.
• Upper Iowa cut the game to 11-8 with a four-run sixth inning.
• Shwaluk extended the lead to 12-8 with an RBI single in the seventh.
• The Peacocks scored a run in the seventh, but were denied of getting any closer as the Beavers survived a 12-8 win in the second game.
